This sculpture brings the ammonite creature back to life from the Mesozoic Era, which occurred approximately 66 million years ago. The entire sculpture is carved from one solid piece of marble. A dremel tool is used to carve the individual tentacles giving the sculpture movement as if it were still swimming in our oceans. The marble beautifully represents what their shells might have looked long ago. Ammonites also lived during the Jurassic and Cretaceous period dating their existence up to 240 million years ago.
Sculptures are hand carved by Eddie Lee in his Pacific Northwest studio. Every carving is one of a kind, individually carved. The sculpture you see pictured is the exact one you will receive. Every fine art piece is hand signed by the artist and includes a certificate of authenticity, which describes the art piece and has a short biography of master sculptor, Eddie Lee.
