Product description

This blanket toss sculpture represents and captures joy and community. The blanket toss has been used for over 100 years by the Inuit people. Seal or walrus skin would be used to make a human powered trampoline to launch a person up to 20 feet in the air to gain more visibility of the horizon for hunting! This speaks to the resourcefulness and ingenuity of the Inuit people. Now, the blanket toss is a cherished tradition and celebration. There are even competitions with tricks and flips.

Hand carved by Eddie Lee in his Pacific Northwest studio. Every carving is one of a kind as we haven't found a way to replicate naturally occurring materials. The carving you see pictured is the exact one you will receive. Every art piece is hand signed by the artist and includes a certificate of authenticity, which describes the art piece and has a short biography of Eddie Lee.
