Sea bead and Fossil Mammoth Ivory Bear Necklace By Edward Lawrence
This necklace features a polar bear hand carved from fossil mammoth ivory that dates 10,000 to 100,000 years old. The beauty of mammoth ivory is it's warm lustrous color from being buried in the Alaskan lands soaking up the earth's minerals. Natural veins of mammoth ivory, called schreger lines mimic the bear's fur beautifully.
Each of Edward Lawrence's pieces are one of a kind, signed, and numbered.
“I get my ideas from the materials. Form follows function has always been a part of my technique. The whole concept is to transform the materials into something you can relate to and wear. They become a part of your life. The designs can be ethnic to modern, funky to architectural. The pieces design themselves.”
